How can this get negative votes? In fact, how do a lot of perfectly benign threads get negative votes? Are there just members out there who vote negative on everything?

I work in an EB Games in Maryland. We received like 6 units and have only sold 3 of them. People seem to like the black one over the other colors. We have to tell people about this POS, or else... but most of the people that come in just ask about it in curiosity and they mostly are waiting what apple is goinig to draw out of the hat next.
If apple draws out whatever they are planning for the next ipod as evveryone thinks (sometime in january 2007), its going to kill the zune.

Don't roll your eyes at me! I didn't say that they *would* do that, my point is merely that you can't make a blanket statement that yonah machines wouldn't sell. While companies like dell are announcing merom machines, they haven't stopped selling yonah, have they?
And how does pointing out that yonah will likely end up costing apple less than merom make you a "yonah fanboy"?

On Demand. This category amongst cable companies are expanding very rapidly and offering free content left and right. Good example is HBO, nearly *ALL* of their shows are On Demand now which is instant access to all of their shows. Generally speaking (for people who use HBO On Demand), this has been extremely popular, maybe this is why HBO is still not being sold on iTunes? Why download when you have access to nearly all of the HBO content for free and instantaneous?
That's interesting. Apple doesn't have a subscription model - so this kind of service isn't on iTunes.
But it is something iTunes/iTV would be able to easily do (technically). I could subscribe to HBO On Demand for $10/mth (or whatever) without paying for a full cable service.
I guess the problem with a subscription model is, for now, the cost of bandwidth to Apple. A bittorrent-like sharing system might solve that.

probably supply reasons and cost reasons.
if they bumped it to core 2, at least the base model would still have been core duo, the c2d one would have been more expensive, and i'm willing to bet we may see the 1.83 C2D in more than just the 17" imac soon.
I'm guessing that Apple probably had a bunch of yonahs sitting around and hoped they could sell some off.
Bet the combo and Superdrives are all unchanged-the suppliers the same as February's model.
Considering Panasonic and Pioneer are the only ones who make slot loading notebook drives, I'd guess so.

If people still drive to the video store to rent movies, then why are Blockbuster et al. going out of business? Everyone I know uses Netflix, not stores, nowadays, unless they don't have a computer, in which case iTunes is not their target market anyway.
Then you can't know that many people, I think you're forgetting there are still people outside of the US, and over here there still is a huge unexplored market for movie rentals. There are no companies that provide services like Netflix, and stores rule the market. If Apple uses the iTunes name for Movie Rentals, it will be a succes in Europe, either way.

Can't wait for MWSF to get some more details from Steve! Between this, the iPhone, an iTablet and the new widescreen video iPod there will be plenty for him to reveal - along with our iLife 07 and Leopard previews as well. ;) :cool:

I really kinda wish Apple would offer deeper education discounts on the mini. $20 just seems cheap to me. I wonder what the exact margins are on these things.
The 24" iMac can be upgraded to a 7600GT video card. Anyone know how decent that is? What about the x1600?

....as a continuation of Jobs last iTV performance. Apple will show how the connected world is going to look. You will have the Mac, the new iTV (probably a launch date will be provided), the new MacPhone, a new .Mac service that will be the key for phone content and syncing, and a new widescreen iPod (not sure about the touchscreen, but will be available immediately). And of course, a full Leopard preview that is the engine behind the full integration. It will become more about the concept this time. Much less about the devices as the Leopard launch will be the key of the platform. The iPod can be launched as it is not directly tied in, but the phone, Leopard and .Mac 5.0 are directly related. The 'top-secret' features? Push technolgy utilizing .Mac to the phone. And because the phone will sync two way with .Mac, your Mac will be kept updated on iCal, Address Book. And even iTunes will know what songs you wanted to purchase utilizing Gracenote's Music ID (the audio fingerprinting technology developed by Philips.)
Just my thoughts, but this is an area the will be able to become a major player in the market.

Something like this could be feasible now that the iPad is out. Throw in the rumored MagicPad and the Magic Mouse, along with a slim keyboard, and voila, a touch enabled iMac-like computer.
Just a thought.

I would love to not have to worry about syn'cing ever again. maybe this is also why we have not heard anything about iwork or iLife 10 yet. I mean it is getting pretty late in the year and they are not out with it yet.

Well that's easy - it seems the purpose of this file is to help you find your location quickly. Without this cache you'd waste bandwidth, time and battery power to look up information that was fixed (cell tower locations). It also means your phone can find your location when you don't have GPS signal, or simply not bother to turn GPS on, which is a win because it consumes so much power. Hmmm... not really. I hate marketing. Nothing they say will change that. They also need to stop calling the iPad "magical". It really isn't. It's very nice, but not magical.
Keep up that attitude and continue wondering why no one talks with you as you type on your laptop in the middle of the coffee shop across from De Anza college. Sure, you may have helped get DB2 started and you still work in a DOS window but don't blame your wife for leaving you as you worked late at night too long. How much of the money from the IPO went to family attorney and court fees?

I saw the January 5, 2007 multipage flyer ad for Fry's Electronics and noticed that there are no ads for any Apple iPod model. This is VERY strange considering that previous Friday multipage flyer ads prominently include iPod models.
Makes you wonder is Apple going to do a "mid-cycle" refresh of the 5.5G iPod and 2G iPod nano, along with introducing the new "true" video iPod.

So are Mac apps sold though the App Store expected to keep all assets in their respective bundle, and not utilize Application Support? Would this uninstaller method remove files not in the app's bundle? What about preferences?
p.s. I think a lot of people are overreacting to this. Remember when everyone was all up in arms with the fear that the Final Cut rewrite would be a dumbed down iOS style iMovie? Well, instead it looks awesome. Yes, it borrows from iOS and from iMovie, but it takes the best parts of those to make a better, more powerful, and at the same time, easier to use, product. Hopefully Apple is doing the same in regards to Lion. Have a little faith!

Man that Windows dialog is horrible. Why is there so much info? Are the file size and image dimensions influencing whether or not I want to delete it? And the classic Windows "Yes" and "No" buttons (instead of having something useful like Cancel and Delete. If that dialog pops up, you have to squint your eyes and look all over until you see "Delete ..." in the upper left corner, then take a second to make sure "Yes" actually means "Delete". And if you want to cancel, should you hit "No" or the X in the top right?
Man, that OS X dialog IS NOTHING like that Aero dialog.
Well, considering the dialog box says "Are you sure you want to delete xxxx?" I think a "Yes" or "No" are the best possible choices.
